how to activate previous button from the post

when open a post mostly users are using previous button in a browser to go back and don’t see the close button in top right corner.
the problem is that the previous button in a browser do nothing. it works (goes back) only from the category page or any other page, but not from a post.
how to fix it?

Hi – I have tried this and it works – BIG problem though is that the code also removes the side widgets so the post no longer shows – recent posts, next post etc.

Is there a fix to keep the navigation at the top but also keep the side widget too.
