Shawn HellwegeFor the icons such as bold or italics or insert/remove link I just get grey squares with shadows. Are those icons loaded remotely, and if so where? We are using the site for internal purposes and a lot of traffic linking to various CDNs gets blocked. Any ideas on why that doesn’t work?

Sadly it is an internal site so I can't send you the URL. But based on your suspicion I did change the theme to twenty sixteen and it worked wonderfully so it is something with my theme.
My theme is from underscores running an older alpha of bootstrap 4 and you can grab it here:

I am confident that when you load it your icons will fail too, not sure why that's happening at the moment.
Still looking into what is causing the issue. Does this plugin work with bootstrap 4? I think the next step is disabling SASS and JS until it works.
DominicIn your case, you should contact the author of the theme, I have checked on our demo and WordPress default theme and see that it working fine. Also, you can try to disable all the plugin to check it. However, I think you should contact to the author of the theme to get the best solution from theirs.
As mentioned in my post I had discovered its my theme, I mentioned that I switched to a different one and it worked fine. I am the author so contacting them is easy, I just need to find out why it is doing it.
Do you have any known issues with bootstrap 4? My plan is just to disable a stylesheet; reload, and repeat until it works again.
